Welkin Selections traverse California’s terroir in search of premium, small-lot wines to share with you. Vintage Sporadic weather throughout the growing season made harvest in Russian River Valley a challenge to say the least. Heavy winter rains caused flooding in low-lying areas, then early bud break and triple-digit temperatures in early September ripened the grapes sooner than expected. As an early ripener, our Pinot grapes were picked well before the October wildfires to yield a fruit-forward wine with healthy structure and plush tannin. Winemaking The sandy loam soils from the varied topography of the Russian River Valley and overnight fog from the Pacific Ocean create a truly unique micro-climate for world-class cool-climate Pinot Noir. Rich flavors of wild strawberry, raspberry, black cherry, smoke and earth prevailing throughout the region are captured in our Welkin Selections Pinot Noir. Tasting Notes Concentrated notes of ripe black cherry, red currant, and savory earthiness, this Pinot Noir is truly expressive of the Russian River Valley terroir as well as the passion of our winemaking team. Enjoy this special selection with roasted mushrooms, oven baked salmon, or Gruyère.
